Software Developer (FX/CFX/Crowds)

The Software Developer will have a deep involvement in designing and developing innovative tools to overcome specific challenges related to the production of our animated feature films. This effort seeks to implement solutions that off the shelf software would not provide while maximizing productivity and meeting the high quality standard set by our client. The scope of the developments may be from a simple python script to a larger development involving complex algorithms.
The developments to be carried out will be mainly related to the lighting and compo departments.

Main responsibilities

The responsibilities for this role include:
• Develop and maintain the required tools following the requirements supplied by the production departments and following the Production Engineering Team guides.
• Partner with Artists and other Engineers to iterate, debug, document and refine tools and processes for feature film production.
• Work on short term needs originated by shot challenges
• Help first support line to solve day-to-day artist problems.


• Problem solving skills with high attention to detail, balancing quick turnaround with long-term quality.
• Expert in Python.
• Ability to communicate the design and implementation of software solutions including relevant strengths/weaknesses and reasons for implementation decisions.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience programming with the following softwares: Maya and Houdini
• Experience working with a source version control system (git).
• Have a startup personality: smart, ethical, friendly, hard-working and productive.

Qualifications desired
• Experience with Arnold.
• Experience programming shaders.
• Experience in animation productions.
• Good understanding of production pipelines.
• Experience with agile development and scrum methodology.
• User interaction design with a working knowledge of standard UI toolkits (PySide2).
